Textiles Minister KT Rama Rao today charged the Congress leaders with getting nervous and unable to digest the monumental development of backward Mahabubnagar district, which was turning green.
Participating in several developmental works in the district along with Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, MP Jithender Reddy, MLA Srinivas Goud, Sports Authority Chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy and others, KTR made a visit to the weavers’ colony in Kothakota and sought to know about their problems.
KTR laid foundation stone for construction of double bedroom housing facility at Madanapuram nearby. He also announced he would waive off the loans of Kothakota weavers from 2010 to 2017. Speaking at a public meeting later, the Minister said the TRS Government has developed Palamur district in all fields in four years. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao achieved Telangana as the MP of this district and was trying his best to develop it”, he said. The State government has already waived weavers’ loans giving reprieve to the workers of handloom industry.
KTR took a dig at the previous successive governments for miserably failing to develop the Palamur district for six decades to stop migration due to perennial drought and hunger problem. Now that the TRS Government was developing the backward district in all aspects while the Opposition Congress was stalling the growth, he charged. He also explained how the Congress leaders of the district were moving courts against the irrigation projects. Despite hurdles by the Congress or others, the works on the irrigation projects will not be stopped, he declared.
“We have set up new 4,380 gram panchayats for improving local governance with all facilities. Stating that the government allotted Rs 1270 crore for welfare of the weavers in the State and will give Rs 2 lakh personal loans to each weaver”, he declared. KTR also said the government has scrapped Rs 30 lakh loans of the weavers associations of Kothakota. The government was supplying 50 per cent subsidy for providing materials for handloom industry, he added. (NSS)
