Congress has lust for power only, but TRS thirsty to develop State: Harish Rao

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today charged the Opposition Congress leaders with having lust for power while the ruling party was thirsty to develop the State on all fronts.

Accompanied by Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy, Harish Rao released the left canal waters from Nagarjuna Sagar project to mark its 63rd foundation day. Harish said the Congress was indulging in false claims on the projects. He said the aim of the government was to see that four lakh acres are irrigated under the Sagar canal and works are going on expeditiously, he said. The project modernization works have been completed by 65 per cent by the TRS Government while the Congress did only 30 per cent, he said. The final phase of waters will be released on April 5 next and complete the remaining 5 per cent of works by June mext.

“We have released Sagar waters for Yasangi season. The TRS Government completed 65 per cent of modernization works in just three-and-a-half years at a cost of Rs 1,265 crore”, he said and appreciated the Irrigation officials for completing the task on time with quality. He also asked them to work at field level to complete the remaining works in time. The Irrigation Minister slammed the Congress leaders for moving courts against the projects only to provoke people against the government for political gain. However, this was not possible as the government was making unrelenting efforts to complete the project works, he said.

The Congress has set aside its ideology and resorting to cheap politics and were trying to stall the developmental works to mislead people. But the wise people are aware of their conspiracies, he fumed. Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya programs were getting accolades at national level and the State was in a position to give 24 hour power supply to people and remained an ideal in every sector in the country, he said.

The ministers also inspected the works of Udaya Samudram lift scheme and pump house at Brahmana Vellamla in Narketpally mandal. MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy, MLA Vemula Veeresham and officials were present. Harish Rao directed the officials to complete trial run of Udaya Samudram lift scheme by next January/February and the project works should be completed by Kharif. He also said all the lakes and water bodies will be filled by next February and provide water for Rabi season. He said the tail and head process will be followed to give waters to crops. Last ayacut of land will get the waters first and first ayacut will get the irrigation waters last under the process which is giving positive results, he added. (NSS)
