Congress for “select and elect” system in fielding candidates in civic polls

Hyderabad: The office-bearers meeting of the Congress party was held here on Saturday with TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy presiding.

AICC incharge RC Kuntia, AICC Secretary Bosu Raju, Srinivasa Krishnan, Saleem Ahmed, TPCC working presidents A. Revanth Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Kusuma Kumar, former CLP leaders K. Jana Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, DCC presidents and other office-bearers took part in the meeting. The party has decided to opt for select and elect system in fielding the candidates for the upcoming municipal elections.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the extended meetings of all DCCs of the State will meet from July 4. He said they would hold Municipal level meetings from July 5 to July 10,2019 in all the municipalities and municipal corporations in the State. He said the responsibility to take care of the entire constituency would be given to concerned incharge of the Assembly constituency or MLA of the party.

He called upon the party leaders to take special care for allocation of government lands by the State government for construction of DCC buildings. He called upon the party leaders to oppose the construction of Kaleswaram irrigation project in public and take it to the doorstep of all the people in the State. He also called upon them to gear up for holding a massive agitation program against the harassment of Opposition party leaders by police .
