Congress senior leader and former MLA from Sanathnagar Marri Shashidhar Reddy has demanded that the State government initiate steps to ensure that the divisions reserved for different categories have been identified as per the procedure before announcing reservations.
Marri Shashidhar Reddy, accompanied by TPCC official spokespersons G Niranjan, B Kamalakar Rao, A Shyam Mohan and others, met Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Friday and submitted a memorandum on reservation of divisions. Along with former minister Dr J Geetha Reddy, the Congress leaders called on State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy and submitted a memorandum on the subject.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Marri alleged that the purpose of delaying the notification on divisions’ reservations was only with the intention of denying all political parties of adequate time to prepare for the elections by identifying candidates for the divisions, which themselves delimited in an unscientific manner.
