Congress will create history in Old City: Uttam

TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy claimed that the Congress party would create history in the Old City with its performance in GHMC elections.

Addressing street corner meetings in Shalibanda, Ghansi Bazar and Puranapul wards of Old City on Saturday, the TPCC President appealed to the people to vote on the basis of local issues and on the performance of the leaders whom they elected in last elections. He alleged that the MIM did not develop the Old City and almost all areas lack basic amenities. He said that the MIM leadership have been exploiting the sentiments of people with their hollow and tall claims.

Uttam Kumar Reddy promised that the Congress would develop Old City on par with other parts of the State. He said he had visited the lanes and by-lanes of Old City for the first time and realised that MIM have forced people to live in inhuman conditions for the last several decades. He also questioned the silence of MIM over non-implementation of promise of 12% Muslim reservation by the TRS Government. He also slammed MIM leaders for keeping mum on the issue of Alair encounter wherein five Muslim under trials were killed. He said the Muslim youth killed in Alair encounter were innocent and even if they guilty in some crimes, it was for the courts to punish them. However, by killing them in a fake encounter, the TRS Government tried to terrorise the entire Muslim community. He said that the Kishanbagh firing report too was yet to be made public.

The TPCC chief also slammed TRS Manifesto and said that the 15-page document was aimed at misleading the common people. He said that the TRS Government did not implement the promises that it made in 2014 elections and now came up with new promises for GHMC elections.

GHCC Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abullah Sohail said that the Congress campaign in Old City was receiving tremendous response and this time people of this region would join the wave of change. He said that large number of youth has joined the Congress party in the last few weeks and door-to-door campaigning in the entire Old City has been intensified.

The meetings at Shalibanda, Qazipura, Fateh Darwaza, Purana Pul and other areas were also addressed Congress candidate from Puranapul Mohammed Ghouse, Shalibanda candidate Mohd Sohail, GHCC General Secretary Syed Nizamuddin and other leader. (INN)
