Contagious diseases on the decline in Agency areas: Minister

Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy today claimed that they could bring down viral and contagious diseases in the Agency areas by persistent efforts. “We are adopting a three-pronged module to bring down the spread of diseases”, he said.

During question hour, the minister informed the House to a question sought by TRS Member G Balaraju, that medical teams were pressed into service in several districts on the spread of viral diseases. He also said their efforts and several programs on health were bearing fruit and the agency areas are now recuperating with timely use of medicines and better health services being provided by the officials concerned. “We are also creating awareness in villages to get rid of health hazards through coordination with other departments”, he maintained. Compared to other States in the country, the problem of contagious diseases in Telangana have come down drastically, he said. The government also sent teams of artistes to campaign against the health problems, which is able to convince the people of agency areas and remote places in the State. The minister said they took every step to put in place better equipment to diagnose the diseases and also necessary medicines. (NSS)
