Cow vigilantism: Miscreants attack 11 Dalits in Telangana

Yadadri Bhuvanagiri: In yet another incident of cow vigilantism, miscreants attacked Dalits in Telangana on the eve of Sankranti.

According to the report published in The News Minute, 11 Dalits were allegedly attacked by cow vigilante group. This incident occurred in Chinnakandukuru village of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District on 14th January.

As per the details of the incident, when the elders from the Madiga community gathered to slaughter a cow, cow vigilantes reached the spot and attacked them.

It may be mentioned that slaughtering a cow is their tradition.

Talking to media men, one of the victims, Yerram Chandraiah told that around 20 to 30 men abused and assaulted them. He further said that miscreants asked, “Are you Muslims to eat cow meat?”.

Chandraiah alleged that cow vigilantes not only attacked them but also took away his cow after vandalizing his home.

On the next day, victims filed the complaint at Motakondur police. An FIR is registered under section 323, 506 of IPC and SC/ST Atrocities Act.

Victims told that they can identify few persons who attacked them. They also took the name of Kokala Sandeep and K Ravinder Reddy who belong to the same village.

On Thursday, Dalit-Bahujan activists visited the village and sat on a hunger strike, News Minute reported.

A memorandum was also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
