CP suspends Chilkalguda SI Venkatadri on ACB report

Hyderabad: Chilakalaguda police sub-inspector Venkatadri has been suspended for allegedly demanding bribe from the victim to return a two-wheeler recovered in a dacoity case. City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar issued orders in this regard.

According to the information, one Santhosh Kumar of Namalagundu of Secunderabad, lodged a complaint with the Chilakalaguda Police Station on May 17 stating that his two- wheeler was stolen. After filing the case, the police recovered the two-wheeler after 20 days at Kompally. The police informed the same to the owner of the two-wheeler Santhosh. Santosh told the police that he withdrew the case as his close relative had stolen his vehicle.

But SI Venkatadri made it clear that it was not possible and a case would be filed against the thief. The SI was also made it clear that he will take bribe to hand over the two-wheeler. With this answer from the SI, Santhosh, along with his uncle Srinivas Goud, approached Anti-Corruption Bureau officials. After receiving the complaint, ACB officials issued notices under the Section 41 CrPC to SI Venkatadri and constable Rajesh. They submitted a report to City Police Commissioner after the inquiry. Based on the ACB report, Anjani Kumar issued suspension orders against Venkatadri. (NSS)
