Cyber fraud: Man loses Rs 60000 after clicking a link

Gurugram: In a cyber fraud which was reported in Gurugram, a businessman lost Rs. 60000 from his bank account after he clicked a link.

According to the report published in Hindustan Times, a few days before the incident, alleged fraudster who claimed that he is an official of Income Tax Dept. had sent a link on the victim’s cellphone. After clicking on the link, an app got installed automatically.

Later, the victim, Harish Chander (52) found that he lost Rs. 60000 from his bank account. Upon inquiry at the bank, he came to know that his phone was hacked.

Mr. Chander informed that OTP received on his phone was automatically sent to another number.

He approached the Sector 10 police station and lodged a complaint. FIR has been registered under relevant sections of IPC.

Meanwhile, Mr. Raj Singh Nehra, Director of International College for Security Studies in Delhi said that such fraud has become common. He advised people not to click on suspicious links.
