Dalits and Muslims are so oppressed in the name of caste and religion that we cannot rise: Mevani

New Delhi: On the second day of the 4-day conference organised by Students Islamic Organisation, famous Dalit leader and Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani said that ‘Muslims and Dalits are so much oppressed in the name of caste and religion that we cannot think of anything but it. He said Modi’s countdown has begun.

Now we the youth will decide whose government will be the next. He advised promoting the fight for justice. ‘We would take to streets, we would raise questions, we would talk of mob lynching, and we would talk of the education crisis, lack of basic facilities and unemployment’, said the Dalit leader.

The programme was also attended by MIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi. Several intellectuals also attended the conference.

Ex-president of SIO Tanzeem Suhail said, three things are compulsory for the existence of democracy in any country, the first one, a strong constitution, second, people accepting it, and transparency in judiciary and election commission. And the third one is the establishment of culture and social federalism.
