Dante Pereira-Olson to play a younger version of Joker’s arch rival

Washington: The arch-rivals of ‘Joker’ are finally here with Dante Pereira-Olson set to play the young Bruce Wayne while Douglas Hodge will essay the role of the butler Alfred Pennyworth.

Olson and Hodge will be playing the significant roles alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who will essay the titular role in the origin movie of ‘Joker’.

Olson had shared a project with Phoenix, wherein the former played a younger version of the latter’s character Joe in a 2017 crime drama ‘You Were Never Really Here’. Hodge on the other hand recently appeared alongside Jennifer Lawrence in ‘Red Sparrow’.

Todd Phillips of ‘The Hangover’ movie series fame will be directing this gritty origin movie of DC’s numero uno supervillain. The movie also stars veteran Robert De Niro and Marc Maron of ‘Deadpool 2’ fame.
In the movie, Brett Cullen who replaced Alec Baldwin will play the role of Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas Wayne. Baldwin had to turn it down due to last minute scheduling conflicts.

Joker has been described as the “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.” Phillips co-wrote the script with Scott Silver.

The film follows the origin of Batman’s most notorious enemy as he transforms from a struggling stand-up comedian to a full-blown criminal. The film is being described as an “exploration of a man disregarded by the society that is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”

Helmed by Phillips, who also co-wrote the script with Scott Silver, the movie is scheduled to hit the big screens on October 4, 2019.
