Hyderabad: July 7 is celebrated as “World Chocolate Day”. It is a known fact that if chocolate is consumed in large quantity, it can result in weight gain and can also cause tooth decay. However, if it is consumed in moderate quantity, it is good for health.

According to the report published in DC, experts say that dark chocolate is good for health as it contains antioxidants.

Talking about the impact of dark chocolate on fertility, Dr Rajalaxmi Walavalkar, Consultant, IVF and Reproductive Surgery, Cocoon Fertility said that it enhances chances of conception.

As per the doctor, a vitamin by name ‘Arginine’ is found in dark chocolates which is essential for the formation of chemical nitric oxide. In turn, nitric oxide can dilate the small blood vessels.

Once the blood is diluted, it reaches the uterus easily which can lead to the healthier lining of the womb. Thus, increased blood flow helps in the implantation of the embryo on to the uterus.

Apart from its benefit during conception, it is a good stress buster. Stress also impacts fertility. Stress effects ovulation and results in weight gain.

Dark chocolate releases beta-endorphins which help a person feel relaxed. It also contains a chemical by name Serotonin which has anti-depressant properties.

It may be mentioned that Raw Cacao Beans contain iron, calcium, zinc, manganese and potassium which are also good for health.

It may be noted that milk, white chocolate do not have such benefits.
