Dattatreya takes up TS issues with Union Ministers

Describing Nehru family including Sonia and Rahul Gandhi as ‘Dalith virodhi’, former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya alleged that Congress party and Nehru family have deceived SCs and STs since Independence.

Speaking to media persons here, Dattatreya said when Modi Government was passing the historic “SC/ST Act” in Parliament on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi was participating in the dharna held by some Dalit organizations. ‘Is it not a fact that the Central Government has passed the bill to protect the interests of Dalits’, he questioned.

During his stay here, Dattatraya met .R K Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power in the Parliament House and gave a representation for his intervention in resolving some issues pertaining to Compensation to the farmers who lost the lands for erecting 765 KV and 400 KV high tension overhead power lines as part of Hyderabad-Wardha power grid, as the farmers whose lands were acquired were not paid any compensation so far. The minister promised to look into the matter and resolve the issues concerned.

Dattatraya also met Parshottham Rupala, Minister of State for Panchayath Raj along with Sarpanches from Telangana State and gave representation for his intervention for ensuring the delegation of powers remaining 19 out of 29, where as Telangana presently given them only 10. The former union minister brought to his notice about the negligence in following the Sec 17(4) of Panchayath Raj Act. It is responsibility of the state government to provide reservation to BCs in Panchayaths. He apprised him about current status with regard to the Election process to the 12741 Panchayaths after completion of its tenure (about 8352 old Panchayaths and New ones 4389), and brought to his notice about delays and obstructions deliberately causing by the State government in conducting the elections to the panchayaths.

Parshottham assured Dattatraya that his ministry is going to stop the incentives/Funds to the states, those are not conducting the elections to Panchayaths as per schedule.

In a Meeting with Jual Oram, Minister for Tribal Affairs, Dattatraya along with a delegation of Telangana Rastra Ikya Valmiki Boya Porata Committee urged the union minister to include the Valmiki/Boya Community into the Schedule Tribe Category in Telangana State and brought to notice of the Minister about decision taken by Government of Telangana in its Cabinet meeting and passed the reservation Bill in the Legislative Assembly, and the same has been sent to Government of India for further approval in the Parliament.

Julal Oram informed him that the matter is under consideration with Tribal Commission and the bill is under process and also assured to expedite the process. (NSS)
