Deepika Padukone to play acid attack survivor in her next

Mumbai: Bollywood’s leggy lass Deepika Padukone is set to portray the role of an acid attack survivor in her next film.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh made it official on his official Twitter handle. He also revealed that ‘Raazi’ director Meghna Gulzar will helm the film.

“IT’S OFFICIAL… After #Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone teams up with #Raazi director Meghna Gulzar… Deepika will portray the part of an acid attack survivor in the film,” wrote Adarsh.

The 32-year-old will reportedly essay the role of acid attack survivor Laxmiaxmi Agarwal, who was attacked at the tender age of 15. Her attacker, a 32-year old man, was an acquaintance of her family. Agarwal is a well-known advocate of stricter punishments in acid attack cases.

Deepika Padukone was last seen on the big screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’.
