Delhi auto, taxi drivers meet Rajnath Singh

New Delhi: A delegation of city-based autorickshaw and yellow-black taxis drivers today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding that the app-based cabs plying “illegally” in the national capital be reined in.

Rajendra Soni, General Secretary, Delhi Autorickshaw Sangh and Delhi Pradesh Taxi Union, said they took up the issue of “illegal” operation of app-based taxis in the city at a meeting with the Home Minister at his residence.

The Home Minister assured the delegation that their demands will be looked into. Singh also told the delegation he would ask the Delhi Police to hold a meeting with drivers of auto and yellow-black taxis on their demands, he said.

“App-based taxis are taking away our livelihood. We cannot sit silent. The operation of these cabs is totally illegal because they do not have permits of the transport department,” Soni added.
