NEW DELHI: Muslim women power was on display in full steam at the Graduation Ceremony of 110 girls who had completed six months “Diploma Education in the Arabic Language’’ (DEAL) here in the Madani auditorium of Jamiat-e-Ulama Headquarters.
The graduated girls in a simple but glittering function excelled in their presentations while they answered with aplomb the intricacies of Tajweed (correct pronunciation) rules and niceties of Arabic grammar when their tutors Maulana Kaleem-ur-Rahman and Maulana Mohammed Mushtaq posed questions to them. While the erudite audience watching the spectacle remained in a stupor with disbelief of remarkable accomplishment of girls in just six months in the Qur’anic studies.
The students who participated in the presentation of the Arabic studies were Shahana Noor, Sajdah Sabri, Muneeba Naaz, Anam, Shaista, Mahnaaz, Farah Deeba, Samreen, Hiba, Shahana, Hafsa, Asima, Bushra, Sameena, Yasmeen, Aaisha and Bushra Iqbal.
The topics of Arabic studies included Asma, Afa’l, Sarf, Nahw, Arabic grammar Oral, Translation (Quran-e-Kareem) Tajweed Written & Oral and Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH). The classes had started in July 2018 and were held for two hours daily for five days in a week from Monday to Friday while every Saturday there was a test. The classes were conducted in three localities of old Delhi viz. Turkmaan Gate, Qasabpura and Daryaganj.
The Tajweed and Arabic course were organized by “MESCO ALEEF’’ (Muslim Education, Social & Cultural Organisation; Arabic Language & English Education Foundation), a division of MESCO, Hyderabad.
Ms. Mahnaaz, daughter of Mr. Mohammad Moeen, was the cynosure of all eyes as she not only topped from her Qassabpura center but also excelled garnering highest 97 percent marks among the other two centers of Turkman Gate and Daryaganj. Those who achieved the First, Second & Third positions in the three centers were: Turkman Gate: Hiba Rahman – 1st (96.1%), Muneeba Naaz – 2nd (95.9%), Shahana Noor & Arfa Begum – Both 3rd (93%); Qassabpura: Mahnaaz – 1st (97%), Sameena – 2nd (96.5%), Zainab – 3rd (95%); Daryaganj: Aaisha Naaz — 1ST (93.3%), Sahrish – 2nd (92.8%), Faiza & Salema Sadaf – Both 3rd (91.1%).
Remarkable craft exhibition
Meanwhile, a remarkable craft exhibition on the theme of Arabic language studies was put up by the students on the occasion. It was the hallmark of the Graduation Ceremony which drew all-round appreciation from the guests who were mesmerized by the concept and its unique presentation.
Before the prize and certificate distributions, a PowerPoint presentation was made by Hafiz Dr. Abdul Khalique, a retired Laparoscopic surgeon & Urologist, on the importance of Arabic language and its positive bearing in the development of Science & Technology. Most of the early inventions and discoveries were made by the Arabs, whose mother tongue was Arabic, were the pioneers of modern Science & Technology.
The function was graced by eminent personalities such as Mrs. Abeda Inamdaar, Educationist, Philanthropist & Social Activist of Pune-based Azam campus; Dr. Syed Farooq, patron of AIEM and Chairman of Himalaya Drugs Company; Hadi Munawwar Alam, a Delhi-based Businessman; Dr. M. A. Huque, Deputy Director, National Archives of India (Rtd.); Muslim cleric viz. Maulana Ateeq-ur-Rahman Bastavi and Maulana Umar Abedin amongst others. They were all presented mementos by the organizers. The ladies who worked day and night to make the whole project of DEAL a success were Mrs. Salma Wasil, Mrs. Naeema, Mrs. Nazima, and others. They were also honored with mementos.
Paid rich dividends
Dr. Mohammad Iftekharuddin, Director MESCO Diagnostic Centre, Hyderabad, and In-charge of ALEEF, speaking on the occasion revealed how arduous work of last three years knocking door-to-door with the help of few elderly ladies to hunt girl students for Arabic classes paid rich dividends. He lauded the services of a handful of elderly ladies of the Muslim community along with tutors Maulana Kaleem-ur-Rahman and Maulana Mohammad Mushtaq Nadwi, who worked untiringly leaving no stone unturned to make the Arabic classes, the language of the Holy Quran, a successful venture. Thus, thereby making the new generation of Muslim women aware of the Quranic injunctions for mankind which then they can propagate to the community and the world at large so that a peaceful and serene society comes up into existence where one and all can live here and Hereafter in perfect harmony. The tutors hopped from one locality to the other where classes were being conducted to impart knowledge of Tajweed and Arabic in the best and lucid way they could which was comprehensible for one and all.
Dr. Iftekharuddin informed that MESCO ALEEF of late has started On-line classes of Tajweed-Arabic course of six and three months’ duration in a number of cities across the country.
Dr. Fakhruddin Mohammad, Honorary Secretary, MESCO Hyderabad, threw light on the aims and objectives of MESCO, which is an NGO, said it was working in the field of Education and Health since 1982. He said the Mission of ALEEF, a subsidiary of MESCO, is to teach Tajweed, Grammar of Arabic Language to understand the noble Quran and basic Islamic knowledge & Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) in the classroom at schools & colleges
While the Vision, he asserted, is to develop students as positive, balanced personalities who understand the Holy Quran, follow the Sunnah and practice Islam as it was taught by our prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and practiced by Sahaba, (R.A.) and become better human beings, true Muslims and the best citizens of our country.
300 schools adopted ALEEF Prog.
Dr. Fakhruddin said about 300 or more schools all over the Country have already adopted the programme and about 3, 00,000 students are enrolled in the program at present. He revealed that the ALEEF course is being taught abroad also. The International Indian Embassy School at Jeddah, several private schools at Jeddah & Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, have incorporated this program in their curriculum. The Ministry of Information in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recognized the ALEEF’s Arabic course while in the Ministry of Education of Dubai, UAE the recognition is under process.
He said MESCO spends about INR 10 Million (One Crore) annually for the above programme towards teachers training, sponsored teachers’ salaries, printing of books, and administration of the programme, from its funds to a large extent and from the donations and sponsorships to some extent. The scope of the programme and the possibility of expansion is infinite as it has to reach each and every student and individual.
At the outset, Master Hassan Shareef, a student of DEAL, recited verses from the Holy Quran and explained its meaning. While Umrah Jalal, who was also a student of DEAL, rendered a Na’at on the occasion. Kamal Farooqui, the Convener MESCO, Delhi, conducted the proceedings of the function with aplomb.
