Delhi police ASI shot at

New Delhi: A 50-year-old Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police was allegedly shot at by two unidentified bike-borne assailants near Vijay Ghat area of the national capital on late on Thursday night.

The victim, identified as ASI Bedi Ram resident of Seelampur area was posted at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station. He was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma centre and is said to be out of danger now.

According to the Police, while on his way home, when the ASI reached the underpass behind Vijay Ghat, two men who were apparently chasing him intercepted his vehicle and shot at him and fled the spot thereafter.

According to a senior police officer, Prima facie it appears to be a case of robbery however police is probing all angles and investigating the case.
