Delhi Police increases security cover of Kanhaiya, Umar Khalid

New Delhi: The security cover of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid have been increased following an alert by the Delhi Police.

A threat call was received by the Delhi Police claiming that a country made revolver and six cartridges were found in a DTC bus that runs between JNU and ISBT. The driver found the bag at around 6:00 p.m. yesterday following which the cops conducted a thorough search.

An anonymous letter was also found in the bag which threatened that the heads of Kanhaiya and Khalid, who are facing cases of sedition for allegedly raising anti-national slogans at the JNU campus, would be decapitated.

Earlier on Thursday, an attempt was made to disrupt Kanhaiya’s programme in Nagpur as a shoe was hurled at him when he was addressing a gathering hardly one kilometer away from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters.

Kanhaiya was in Nagpur to participate in various programmes on the occasion Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s 125 birth anniversary celebration. (ANI)
