Delhi: Schoolgirl crushed by DJB tanker, driver held

New Delhi: A teenage schoolgirl was crushed to death and her younger sister critically injured on Monday when a speeding Delhi Jal Board tanker hit them here, police said. The accused driver has been arrested.

Police said Nagma, 15, along with her sister Samreen, 13, was going to school in Janakpuri in west Delhi when they were knocked down by the tanker near the Pankha Road around 6.50 a.m.

Both sisters were taken to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital, where doctors declared Nagma brought dead. Samreen is undergoing treatment.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar said that driver Dharmender fled after leaving the tanker at the spot but was arrested from Uttam Nagar.

Dharmender was booked on charges of causing death by negligence and rash driving.
