New Delhi:The Delhi government has constituted a commission of enquiry to look into the complaints of crime against women since February 2013.
The government issued a notification in this connection on January 19 which became public on Wednesday.
“The Delhi government in pursuance of the resolution of Delhi assembly has decided to constitute an Independent Commission of Inquiry under the Commission of Enquiry Act, 1952, for enquiring complaints of crime committed against women since February 2013,” the notification stated.
Retired district judge Dinesh Dayal has been appointed the chairman of the commission whereas Richa Pandey Mishra — wife of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dinesh Pandey — and Surbhi Singh will be other members of the commission.
The commission, having a two-year tenure, will have to submit report of its findings every three months from the date of first sitting, according to notification.
The notification said the commission will look into cases of sexual violence, harassment of women, stalking, voyeurism, and such crimes against women.
“The commission will also be mandated to recommend measures to expedite proceedings in criminal cases, propose measures to implement existing laws, recommend welfare measures for improving working condition of personnel in law enforcement agencies, among others,” it added.
