Demolition of Babri Masjid grave mistake of Narasimha Rao, says Chenna Reddy

Hyderabad: Secretary of All India Congress Committee, Dr. G. Chenna Reddy told that it was a grave mistake of the former Prime Minister of India, Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao after which the Muslims kept themselves away from Congress.

This was disclosed by Dr. Reddy while talking to newsmen at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad. He brushed aside the allegations of BJP that Congress had overlooked Mr. Narasimha Rao. He further told that Congress gave much importance to Mr. Rao.

After keeping distance from active politics, Mr. Narasimha Rao was taking rest. Despite this, Ms. Sonia Gandhi commissioned and appointed him as PM. Dr. Reddy further told that Mr. Rao overlooked many senior Congressmen.

Dr. Reddy categorically said that demolition of Babri was a major mistake of Mr. Rao. He also said that although, the Govt. of UP led by Mr. Kalyan Singh was responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid, Central Govt. could have protected its demolition by deploying Central Intelligence and Paramilitary Forces. Mr. Rao failed to do this which is the dark part of the history of India. After this incident, Muslims started feeling suspicion about the secularism of Congress. The wrath of demolition of Babri Masjid is still there among the Muslims. They are reluctant to come closer to Congress. In this manner, the Muslims who were the vote bank of Congress party remained astray from it.

After the tragedy of Babri Masjid Demolition, Nehru-Gandhi family kept Narasimha Rao away from Congress. Now BJP leaders are praising Mr. Rao. They are also making an attempt to muster support of former President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. Govt. of India awarded Mr. Mukherjee Bharat Ratna after he visited RSS Headquarters, Nagpur.

Dr. Manmohan Singh did not benefit BJP and hence BJP leaders are criticizing him.
