New Delhi: After Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police (Home Guard), Mr. Surya Kumar Shukla took the oath for the construction of Ram Temple, the Indian Police Service Association declared its disassociation from the act of the police officer.
Association tweeted, “We disassociate ourselves from the act of a senior #IPS officer as shown in the video & reiterate that it is against the ethos of neutrality, fairness and uprightness that Indian Police Service stands for”.

It may be mentioned that at a function held in Lucknow, he took the oath along with several other devotees to get the Ram temple constructed at the earliest.
Mr. Shukla is an IPS Officer of 1982 batch. He is the second senior-most IPS officer in UP.
According to the report published in DC, the pledge was administered by Muslim Karsevak Manch’s Azam Khan.
After the video went viral, Mr. Rajendra Chaudhary, Spokesperson of Samajwadi Party also criticized Mr. Shukla. On the other hand, Mr. Keshav Murya, Dy. Chief Minister defended the officer.
Meanwhile, Mr. Shukla in his clarification said, “I was taking a pledge to create an atmosphere of harmony. The video that has gone viral is an edited version and portions have been deleted deliberately to create mischief”. “It is misinterpretation… The matter related more to creating a peaceful environment for the construction of the temple rather than construction itself,” he added.
