Dhoni comes to Shami’s rescue, says ‘he can’t cheat his wife, country’

NEW DELHI: Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni had come forward in support of his team-mate Mohammed Shami over the on-going controversy.

The legendary wicketkeeper-batsman has broken his silence over derogatory allegations labelled against the UP-born bowler by his wife Hasin Jahan.

MS Dhoni, in an exclusive interview with Jansatta.com gave his opinion on Shami and don’t want to interfere as it is related to family affairs.

“As far as I know, Shami is a great human being. He cannot cheat his wife and country. This is Shami’s personal matter and we should not make any comment on it,” said Dhoni.

Backing Shami, former Indian skipper Kapil Dev also said he doesn’t believe in the allegations leveled against the 27-year-old Bengal pacer.

“I refuse to believe the allegations that have been leveled by Shami’s wife. If she knew about match-fixing then why didn’t she report it earlier? When the relationship was fine, why was she silent then? There is an investigation team. Let them do their work. If Shami has done something like this then it is unacceptable and disgraceful,” Kapil had said to ABP News.

“Shami is a brilliant hardworking cricketer. I agree that his personal relationship is in trouble currently but such kinds of allegations by his wife are nasty and sickening until proven,” he further added.

Also his, father-in-law and Hasin Jahan’s father Mohammed Hassan had also backed the cricketer saying,

“We are unaware of the reasons behind the dispute between Hasin Jahan and Mohammed Shami. We got to know about it through the media. Only Shami and Hasin would be able to tell what actually has happened. We don’t know much about it. Shami was a good person. He speaks less. We had no doubts about him. Only God knows how things have turned ugly,” he was quoted as saying to ABP News.
