Dipendra Airee helps Nepal level T20I series against UAE

Dubai [UAE]: Right-handed batsman Dipendra Airee blazed an unbeaten 47 off 41 balls, helping Nepal clinch a last-over thriller and level the three-match T20I series 1-1 against hosts UAE in the second match at the ICC Academy on Friday.

Chasing a target of 108, Nepal was in trouble at 46 for the loss of five wickets in the 11th over. However, their middle-order batsman Airee forged a crucial 55-run partnership with Pawan Sarraf (18) and took Nepal past the 100-run mark.

With the visitors still needing seven runs off last five balls, Airee smashed a six and a boundary off the next two balls to seal the victory with three balls to spare.

Earlier, UAE were bundled out for 107 in 19.2 overs as only three of their batsmen could reach the double-digit score. Chundangapoyil Rizwan top-scored with 44 for the hosts.

Nepal’s Abinash Bohara scalped three wickets, while Sandeep Lammichhane, Sompal Kami and Karan KC took two wickets each.

UAE and Nepal will lock horns for the third and decider T20I on February 3 in Dubai.
