Ankara: Speaking at the 33rd Session of the COMCEC, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan warned that the collapse of the Islamic societies is being aimed at through provocations over ethnic, religious and sectarian differences, and underlined: “The aim is to deepen the existing fault lines among Muslims, thus causing them to consume their energy with internal conflicts.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech and quoted by the official website of Turkey at the 33rd Session of the OIC Standing Committee on Economic and Commercial Cooperation in Istanbul, emphasizing the importance of consultation and expressing his wish for the meeting, which takes place in a crucial period, to lead to auspicious developments for the OIC members and the entire Islamic world.
Drawing attention to the importance of approaching the incidents in the Islamic world with wisdom and foresight, President Erdoğan said: “A dirty plot is being staged to destroy the unity, solidarity, prosperity and, most importantly the future of the Islamic world. The destruction of Islamic societies from inside is being aimed at through provocations over ethnic, religious or sectarian differences. The aim is to deepen the existing fault lines among Muslims, thus causing them to consume their energy with internal conflicts. They aim to create a contentious social structure plagued by conflicts in which neighbors and siblings see each other as an enemy or, even worse otherize one another. To tell the truth, the West is working to secure its future by exporting all the malign elements in its history to the Islamic world. Tensions are being escalated and therefore Muslims’ resources are being served to arms companies, usurers, speculators and hot money barons. As a result, the money that should actually be spent for our youth, women and those in need or for the construction and renovation of our cities unfortunately is rather going to the pockets of the companies owned by western states.”
Underlining that the Islamic world has recently been going through a painful period of sedition economically, socially and politically, President Erdoğan stated that the destruction wreaked in cities across the Islamic geography has reduced to rubble not only the material and spiritual accumulation therein but also their future, and continued: “The visible perpetrators of this situation, which tears our hearts out, are dictators that persecute their own people and terrorist organizations that feed off blood and tears. We all see that flocks of murderers likes DAESH, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, YPG and FETO have turned our entire region from Syria to Iraq and Yemen to Libya into a large bloodbath. However, we shouldn’t let the figurants on the stage block us from seeing the real actors and screenwriters behind the scene.”
The West established an order of prosperity for itself through the resources and blood of the oppressed in the colonialist age two or three centuries ago, President Erdoğan said, underscoring that today, which he calls “neo-colonialist age,” the West is again seeking to consolidate its order of prosperity through the resources, labor and lives of the oppressed.
Noting that the global system, which was set up in the aftermath of the WWI and consolidated with the WWII, has now become one of the greatest obstacles in front of justice and freedom, President Erdoğan said: “The indifference displayed in the face of the atrocity that has been raging on in Syria for seven years, the inhumane treatment of refugees at border gates, and the absence of any reaction to the genocide in Rakhine have unveiled the true face of the West. Islamophobia, neo-Nazism and racism began to replace such values as democracy, human rights and freedoms more and more.”
Asked as to whether the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be on the agenda during his meeting with President Putin of Russia, President Erdoğan said: “We talked about Nagorno-Karabakh during my previous visit to Russia. Mr. Putin stated back then that he was doing everything in his power. I asked them to be more attentive to the issue because it is now almost 30 years. The power to solve this matter is Russia, Mr. Putin. I told them, ‘I especially expect you to be attentive to the issue.’ And during today’s meeting as well, I will raise this issue once again, if I have the opportunity to do so since it is a trilateral meeting. I will do so because the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh is our private issue as well. We cannot ignore it.”
