‘Do not play with lion’s tail’: Rouhani to Trump

Tehran: Asking US president Donald Trump not to escalate tensions with his country, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned that a confrontation with the Islamic republic would be the “mother of all wars”.

Rouhani warned Trump on Sunday, “Do not play with the lion’s tail or else you will regret it.” He reiterated that the US cannot prevent it from exporting its crude oil to the international market.

In a televised speech in Iran’s capital, Tehran Rouhani said, “Peace with Iran would be the mother of all peace and war with Iran would be the mother of all wars”.

In response, President Donald Trump on Sunday warned Iran of consequences “the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered,” if it threatens the United States.

“NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE,” he said on Twitter in a direct message to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

“WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!” Trump said, writing the entire message in capital letters.
