Dubai: Warning his country’s government not to be deceived by European signatories of the nuclear deal with major powers, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday said, “America’s enmity toward Iran is obvious. Our enemies’ heart is full of enmity toward the Islamic Republic … our officials should not be deceived by the Europeans … don’t be fooled by Europeans.”
It must be noted that US’ major European allies opposed President Donald Trump’s decision to abandon the deal and have been trying to salvage the pact.
According to Reuters, the Europeans have promised to guarantee that Iran benefits from abiding by the deal, even though Trump reimposed sanctions. In practice, European companies largely abandoned plans to reinvest in Iran after Trump’s decision.
