‘Don’t Give Such Punishment…,’ Class 5 Boy On Teacher In Suicide Note

Gorakhpur: A Class 5 student killed himself at his home in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur after he was “punished” by his class teacher, police said on Thursday. Eleven-year-old Navneet Prakash was a student of Saint Anthony School.

The boy’s father Ravi Prakash in his police complaint said his son fell ill after taking a poisonous substance on September 15, upset over his class teacher allegedly punishing him.

The boy died during treatment in a hospital on Wednesday, police said.

His family members later found a note in his bag in which he blamed the class teacher, police said.

“Today was my first day of examination. My teacher made me stand till 9.15 am and made me cry. Yesterday also she made me stand for three periods. Do not trust her. I have decided to die. My last wish is that my ma’am does not give such punishment to any other student,” the boy wrote in the note, which is now with the police.

A case has been filed against the teacher Bhawana Joseph and she has been arrested, police said, adding the school management has been named in the case.
