New Delhi: Taking a major step in the direction of promotion of Urdu, Human Resource Development ministry has formed Governing Council of National Urdu Council. Former chairman of Jharkhand state minority commission, national convener of Muslim Rashtriya Manch and social worker Dr Shahid Akhtar has been appointed the vice chairman of National Urdu Council.
Dr Shahid Akhtar has completed LLB, MBA and PhD from Ranchi University. He has done BSc Chemistry Honours from Aligarh Muslim University.
Arshad Shaikh from Telangana, Javed Malik, Iqbal Ahmed Khan from Karnataka, Mrs Shaikh Khan from Delhi, Dr Naseem Ahmed Naseem, Dr Qudsia Qureshi from Delhi, Prof. Muzaffar Shahmiri from Kurnool, Dr Zahid from Bengaluru, Dr Mohammed Riyaz Ahmed from Jammu advocate Mustafa Khan from Madhya Pradesh, Dr Shabana Azmi from Lucknow, Mohammad Altamash Khan from Bhagalpur, Maulana Mohammad Ziaul Haq from Jharkhand, Rafeeq Ahmed Guwahati, Assam, Abdus Sami from Mumbai, Mohammed Mazahir Khan, Mohammed Farooq Shaikh, Nagpur, Syed Shehzadi from Telangana and Syed Naseeb Ali from Jammu have also been appointed as members of governing council.
