EC deletes Truck, Iron Box from free symbols’ list

Hyderabad: TRS MP B Vinod Kumar today said the Election Commission has removed from free symbols list the Truck and Iron box symbols resembling Car which is the symbol of the ruling party in Telangana. He said the EC issued orders to this extent upon the appeal by the party supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

Talking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, Vinod said the EC has assured that the Car symbol will appear bold in the ballot papers. Thus the ballot papers will now have car in bold and easily identified and there will be no confusion. He extended thanks to the Election Commission for the changes being made. In the Assembly polls held recently, the voters got confused and voted to other parties whose symbols are truck and iron box in a mistaken identity. This led to the TRS members losing polls and also vote share, he said.

As a result, the TRS leadership approached the EC for changes to avoid confusion, Vinod Kumar said. KCR had called on the CEC in December last week in this regard and made an appeal to make changes and orders were issued now. Finally, the EC has come down a step and taking steps on our appeal he added.
