Eddie Redmayne to star in ‘Trial of the Chicago 7’

Washington: Actor Eddie Redmayne is all set to treat his fans with another upcoming project as he in talks to star in Amblin Entertainment’s ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7′.

Aaron Sorkin will be writing and directing, while Marc Platt will be producing the film. British actor Sacha Baron Cohen is also in talks to join the cast, reported Variety.

The film revolves around the infamous 1969 trial of seven defendants charged by the federal government with conspiracy and other charges, arising from the countercultural protests in Chicago which took place during the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

Redmayne will be essaying the character of Tom Hayden, the co-founder of the Students for a Democratic Society. He was known for his role as an anti-war, civil right and intellectual activist in the 1960s, authoring the Port Huron Statement and finally standing trial in the Chicago Seven case.

The actor has been previously credited with an Oscar for playing theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking in Focus’ ‘The Theory of Everything’.

The 36-year-old actor is all set to return to the world of ‘Harry Potter’ as Newt Scamander in the upcoming film titled ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’, which will hit the big screens on November 16.

Redmayne recently filmed Amazon studios’ ‘The Aeronauts’, which was his second collaboration with his ‘Theory of Everything’ co-star Felicity Jones.
