Eight naxals, including 2 women, surrender in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Eight naxals, including two women, surrendered before police in the insurgency-hit Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh today, police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Om Praksh Sharma told PTI that the ultras decided to surrender as they were disillusioned by the naxal ideology and were impressed with rehabilitation policy of the state government.

The women Naxalites have been identified as Sukaro Salam (23) and Lehri Korram (26) and the rest are Sidrai Salam (28), Sonader (28), Sonu Salam (26), Baju Potai (45), Bir Singh (26) and Jai Singh (30).

He said there were cases registered at different police stations against all the eight naxals and 10 warrants had been issued for their arrest.

Sharma said a collective reward of Rs 33,00 was announced for their arrest by local police.

Cases of murder, attempt to murder, loot and arson were filed against them, the ASP said.
