New Delhi: Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat rejected the demand for conducting polls through ballot paper and has decided to conduct fair and transparent election and to use Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines and EVM3 machines for the first time in the assembly elections.
During his stay in Rajasthan, along with the complete bench of the commission, Mr Rawat told press persons that use of sources violating law will not be permitted. He informed that the commission has completed the inspection of EVM and VVPat machines. They cannot be tampered. He said those who objected were twice given chance to prove their claim, but no party came forward to accept the challenge made by the Commission.
Mr Rawat further informed that the Election Commission has imposed Citizen’s Vigilance system for the first time to ensure free and fair elections.
