Elton John kicks off final world tour

Washington: Sir Elton John will kick off his final world tour in Allentown, Pennsylvania, today, which will bring an end to his memorable career of more than 50 years.

The ‘Rocket Man’ singer will have 300 shows in his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, and will span five continents before coming to an end in 2021, reported CNN.

“Performing live fuels me and I’m ecstatic and humbled to continue to play to audiences across the globe. I plan to bring the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades to my final tour,” said John.

Showing his excitement to perform for his fans, the singer tweeted saying, “One more day to go! Get ready for a musical and visual journey of 50 incredible years on the #EltonFarewellTour. The yellow brick road awaits…”

The 71-year-old legend announced a three-year farewell tour and his subsequent retirement from touring during a press conference in January this year.

The ‘I’m Still Standing’ singer released his greatest hits compilation album ‘Diamonds’ in November, last year, which was put together to commemorate 50 years of his work with lyricist Bernie Taupin.

A biopic titled ‘Rocketman’ based on the life of Sir Elton will showcase the uncensored human story of his breakthrough years. It will follow the famed singer-songwriter’s journey from Royal Academy of Music to his rise in the world of rock ‘n’ roll during the 1970s and ’80s.

The film will also tell the story of his drug and alcohol addiction and recovery followed by a glorious international superstardom.

‘Kingsman’ actor Taron Egerton will be playing the lead role in the film; it also stars Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Gemma Jones.
