Emilia Clarke danced her way to land ‘Game of Thrones’ role

Washington: Hollywood actor Emilia Clarke had to belt out a dance move in one of the auditions to land the role of Daenerys in ‘Game of Thrones’ (GoT).

On Friday, while she was being presented with the Britannia Awards for the ‘British Artist of the Year’, GoT co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss happened to recall one of her auditions for the show, reported Variety.

Even after showing her skills in the audition for the pilot episode of the show, Clarke of ‘Me before you’ fame was asked to audition again for the president of Home Box Office (HBO).

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Weiss said that the audition took place in one of HBO’s corporate theatres that was left empty for the four of them. Weiss even admitted that the environment was something he had never witnessed.

To everyone’s surprise, after Clarke was done with her initial reading, the President didn’t react.
So to dial down the tense situation, Emilia asked whether she could do something to change the atmosphere. Recalling that very moment, Weiss said David asked her to dance without “missing a beat”.

Weiss confirmed that Emily did a robotic dance move with full commitment and “she did it well”.
It was here that the President broke into a smile, after which she was successful in getting the role in the blink of an eye.

Clarke, in her acceptance speech, said that David and Weiss should have been given a bravery award for choosing someone who once played the role of ‘Snow White’.

Earlier in June, Clarke bid farewell to the franchise.

‘Game of Thrones’ season 8, which was announced by HBO on July 26, will be the season finale of the TV series.
