New Delhi: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Khwaja Asif has written to Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj seeking to reduce the ceasefire violations across LOC and International Boundaries(IB) sources said to media.
Times of India reported India’s counterpart Asif has stated in his letter that it is high time the two countries worked towards ending the ceasefire violations on LOC which has led to a number of civilian casualties.
Earlier this year, Pakistan had carried out ceasefire violations along the LOC and the International border as many as 720 times the highest number of ceasefire violations in the past seven years.
As per the data from Home Ministry, nearly 44912 civilians have been reported to be killed until October in these ceasefires besides 17 security personnel.
Pakistan’s repeated claims that Pakistani forces were only retaliating in these attacks from Indian troops, sources say is hard to believe as the Ministry has clear records of the ceasefire violations.
According to the sources Sushma Swaraj is yet to respond to the letter that was sent last week.
India is currently awaiting Pakistan’s official statement ensuring alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s family safety who wants to visit him in Pakistan.
