Hyderabad: A delegation of Iman Committee of Mehboob Nagar called on Mr. Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily and pledged that it will make an attempt for the eradication of the evil of demanding dowry.
Mr. Mohammed Saleem, founder president of Iman committee told that his organization has been making an attempt for the past 7 years for the eradication of the evil of demanding dowry. He lamented that Muslim community is wasting money in marriages and valima dinners involving families into debts. Purchasing of costly ornaments and offering dowry amounts to the grooms is has become the evils of society. The parents of the Muslim girls are facing a lot of difficulties in arranging marriages. A large number of dowry and divorce cases are pending in courts.
Mr. Amer Ali Khan applauded the efforts of the committee and assured that he would extend every possible support for eradication of dowry and other evils. He quoted the campaign launched by Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily for minimizing expenses in marriages by offering simple food items. This has been yielding good results.
Mr. Amer Ali Khan expressed his best wishes and offered advice to the committee. The delegation consisted of Mr. Syed Mateen, Mr. Abdullah Sunni, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed, Mr. Mehmood Khan and others.
