NEW DELHI: After Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan was convicted and jailed by a special CBI court for raping two Sadhvis, a new allegation has been made by a former Dera follower who claimed that the controversial Dera chief sexually abused minor girls.
Speaking to India Today, Gurdas Singh Toor told that he is in touch with at least 10 women, most of them now married, who had been allegedly sexually abused by Gurmeet Ram Rahim when they were at a school run by the Dera.
One woman, divulging details of her ordeal to Gurdas Singh over WhatsApp messages, recounts that nobody including her parents believes when she told them that she was sexually abused by Gurmeet Ram Rahim when she was studying in Class V.
“I had come to see my parents and landed a couple of days before [Ram Rahim] was convicted [for raping two female followers]. I asked my parents to refrain from [following Gurmeet Singh] but they asked me to leave home,” one of the messages reads.
Gurdas Singh, while speaking to India Today also alleged that in Dera hospital, termination of pregnancies of girls raped by Gurmeet Singh take place and claimed to have witnessed three such abortions when he was still a member of the Dera.
Furthermore, in the illegally constructed Dera’s ‘Shahi Betiyan’ orphanage, where destitute girls sheltered, Ram Rahim abused them, Gurdas Singh claimed .
Gurdas Singh says he has decided file a case for child sex abuse against the controversial Dera chief. “I am in constant touch with the child sex abuse victims. I have decided to expose the baba and will file a police complaint soon.”
The sanitisation exercise of the Dera headquarters, spread over nearly 800 acres conducted two weeks after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh conviction involved various government agencies, ended on Sunday.
The sanitisation process led to unearthing of two secret tunnels, including one that connected the Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s residence with the hostel for female disciples, and an illegal firecracker factory.
During the sanitisation operation, the authorities found an empty box of AK 47 cartridges, 84 cartons of fire crackers and chemicals from the illegal factory, besides hundreds of pairs of shoes, designer clothing and caps.
The Dera’s sprawling headquarters include a township of its own, with schools, a sports village, a hospital, a shopping mall and a cinema hall. The property is also home to an ostentatious ‘7-star MSG resort’ with replicas of Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Kremlin and Disney World inside.
The entire sanitisation process was video-graphed.
Police, paramilitary and civil administration personnel were involved in the mammoth.
