However, Jagga Reddy’s counsel Damodar Reddy found fault with the arrest of Jagga Reddy. He said there was no Jagga Reddy’s name in Rashid Khan’s testimony given in 2007. Speaking to the media, Damodar Reddy demanded that the police prosecute the officials in case they issued fake passports in the name of Jagga Reddy’s family members and said several MLAs took passports in between 2007 and 2014.

He said the Secunderabad Monda Market police filed the case taking the issue suo moto. They didn’t give any prior information and arrested Jagga Reddy against the rules. Congress leaders, including former Minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy staged dharnas in Sanga Reddy district. They observed bandh on Tuesday protesting the arrest of Jagga Reddy. The police arrested Sunitha Laxma Reddy and former Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narsimha when they were staging dharna at various places.

Arguing the case on behalf of Jagga Reddy, Damodar Reddy said it was not proper on the part of police to file a case under IPC Section 370 and alleged that the police arrested Jagga Reddy as part of taking political revenge. He asked the police to tell as to why they failed to initiate action all these days as the incident took place in the year 2004. He said the police filed a case without receiving any complaint and the police didn’t mention the complainant’s name and only mentioned ‘faithful information’.

He said Jagga Reddy worked as an MLA and was continuing as a political leader and there was no chance to escape from the nation. Damodar Reddy urged the Court to grant bail and said that they will cooperate with the interrogation.
