Extension of Governor’s tenure opposed

Hyderabad: A political party is opposing the extension of the tenure of office of the Governor of A.P. and Telangana States, Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan.

In political circles, the rumours are spreading that many people are impatiently waiting for Central Government’s decision for the extension of the tenure of office of the Governor.

It may be mentioned that Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan had played a key role during the bifurcation of the two states in the past. He completed his 6 years of service as Governor. It is learnt reliably that Central Govt. is actively considering extending his tenure of office for a few months.

It is reported that in view of the election of President and Vice President, Mr. Narasimhan’s tenure of office may be extended. Some of the political leaders of Telangana have impressed upon the Central Govt. to change the Governor.

It may be mentioned that in connection with the nomination of Vice Presidential Candidate, Mr. Narasimhan’s name was under consideration but it could not be materialized. Many political leaders of Telangana State do not want his services to be extended. This has already been intimated to PM Mr. Modi. These leaders of Telangana have also met Home Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh and BJP President, Mr. Amit Shah and opposed the extension of the tenure of office of the Governor.
