New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the eve of Diwali announced on Thursday that India will be granting medical visas to its neighboring country Pakistan.
All deserving cases with medical ailments will be granted visas for their treatment in India said the Minister.
In her tweet, External Affairs Minister, said, “On the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, India will grant medical Visa in all deserving cases pending today.”
Sushma Swaraj’s announcement to grant medical visas comes days after her direction to the Indian High Commission in Pakistan to issue visas for few patients which included a child suffering from eye cancer, a bone marrow transplant patient and two liver transplant patients.
Replying to a Pakistani national’s tweet to visit her father who is undergoing a liver transplant in New Delhi, the Foreign Minister tweeted on Thursday “Please contact Indian High Commission in Pakistan, We will allow this.”
Many political leaders took to Twitter to greet the nation on Diwali’s eve.
PM Modi greeted the nation on Diwali’s eve saying he hopes this auspicious festival brings prosperity, good health and happiness to all.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also extended his wishes on Diwali eve saying “On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I pray for good health, joy, and spiritual wellness to everyone.”
Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi too wished everyone saying, “May this festival bring happiness to all.”
