Fake CBI officer, 3 accomplices held for extortion

The Santoshnagar police here on Friday nabbed a person along with his three associates, who allegedly threatened and extorted money from a businessman, posing as Deputy Director of Central Bureau of Investigation, Delhi.

           

According to complainant Syed Najaf Mohiuddin alias Safiuddin, 82, Unani Hakeem of Rajanarsimha Colony, the principal accused Huli Raj Goud alias Ali, 51, of Bellary, Syed. Mastan Ali, 45, of MCH colony, Amberpet, Syed Masood Ali Hashmi alias Nawaz, 26, of Surya Jung Dewdi, Yakuthpura and Mohd. Khaja Pasha, 46, of Nargi Phool Bagh, Chandrayangutta forcibly called him several times for a meeting at SV Plaza opposite Agarwal Eye Hospital, Santoshnagar regarding a disputed land at Balapur. In his complaint, Najaf Mohiuddin stated the accused enquired about the disputed land he owned at Balapur and called him several times to settle the matter. The main accused introduced himself as an IPS officer working for CBI as Dy Director at New Delhi. The accused threatened him to settle the matter immediately and collected Rs 50,000 of which Rs 10,000 was recovered from A1 and the remaining amount of Rs 40,000 was spent lavishly among themselves. Main accused Huli Raj Goud alias Ali used to spoke to local police on phone before the victims to make them believe that he is a CBI officer and came for an inquiry. Sometimes, the accused tried to assault the victims in their office. However, the complainant and witnesses got suspicious over the accused and lodged a complaint with the Santoshnagar PS.

            On a tip-off on Friday, the police nabbed all the four accused at Nayapul and interrogated. After detailed inquiry, the police arrested the accused and brought them to the Santoshnagar PS. The case is being investigated by Sudhakar, SI, under the supervision of V. Srinivasulu, ACP Santoshnagar Division and M. Shankar, Inspector of police, PS Santoshnagar. (NSS)
