Fake CMO official arrested in Tirupati for cheating many

The CCS sleuths apprehended an accused on Sunday at Tirupati and brought him here for cheating many people on pretext of providing air-conditioners purchase contract for installation at Telangana CMO and collecting a deposit of Rs 17,000. He also allegedly collected money from his victims on pretext of giving contracts for various works at CMO and Secretariats of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

           

Avinash Mohanty, Dy Commissioner of Police, CCS, has said they received a complaint on October 12 from one Pavan Kumar Reddy, owner of Sri Pavan & Shoppy at Kachiguda stating that the accused introduced himself as Rakesh from Telangana CM’s Office regarding purchase of Air- conditioners to be installed at the main block CMO and assured that he would get purchase contract to him and made Pavan to deposit Rs 17,000 as advance into Bank Account for issuing vendor code. When the complainant asked the accused for vendor code, the trickster asked him to deposit Rs 17,000. Getting suspicious, the complainant made enquiries at the Secretariat and realized he was cheated. Pavan also came to know that accused Rakesh had also cheated several persons by posing as Sridhar and Jagadish of the Secretariat.

           

The CCS Crime Lab Team investigated the case and arrested the accused at Tirupati. Police said the accused is a native of Khammam District. The accused created his name ID with fake profession in social media ‘True caller App’ as ‘CM Office Rakesh’. He started introducing himself as an official working in Telangana CM’s office and provides vendor codes for allotting government contracts for supply of Air-conditioners. He also created fake service details in Just Dial App through which he used to influence the victims who seek various sales/services in Just Dial site. The trickster allegedly collected amounts ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000  from gullible persons, the DCP added. (NSS)
