Srinagar: National Conference President and Member of Parliament, Dr. Farooq Abdullah strongly condemned the incidents of assaults on Kashmiri detainees at Tihar Jail. Declaring the incidents as reprehensible and unacceptable, he sought legal action against the culprits.

He was addressing media persons at National Conference Headquarters, ‘Nawa-e-Subha’ in Srinagar. Saying that the incident proved that the detainees are not safe in jails outside the state, Farooq Abdullah sought immediate shifting of all Kashmiri prisoners to jails within the State.

Noting that mere phone call will not do, he told the Chief Minister should immediately visit Tihar Jail and see their condition by herself. She is morally bound to ensure their safety and welfare, he asserted.
