Vijayawada: Students of Fatima Medical College met N. Chandrababu Naidu, CM of Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
According to the news published in DC, students discussed their problem with AP CM in Assembly.
As many as 100 students got admissions in FIMS in the 2015-16 batch. As there was no approval from Medical Council of India (MCI) for the seats in that academic year, the Supreme Court cancelled their admissions 10 months after the commencement of the academic year. Now, the students and their parents want the government to intervene and address the problem.
It may be mentioned that on Sunday, six students of the college and a parent agitated climbing a cell phone tower at around 10 a.m. Earlier, these students started their protest at Vijayawada Dharna Chowk.
Mr. Naidu requested students of the college to be patient. He said that once Supreme Court grants permission, students who have qualified in NEET will get a seat in Fatima Medical College or any other medical college and students who have not qualified would be given NEET coaching. He also asked students to form a committee to coordinate with a special cell of the Govt.
It is also reported that students first met Kamineni Srinivas, Health Minister of AP before meeting Mr. Naidu. During the meeting, Chief Minister of AP also promised to withdraw cases registered against the students during protests.
Mujeer, one of the students who met Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that after CM’s assurance they are feeling a sense of relief. Other persons who were present during the discussions are Mr. Munwar, Mr. Sharook, Mr. Vishnu, Ms. Kausar Khan, Miss Narveen, Mr. Ehthessyam and Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a resolution was passed on this in the Assembly and council.
