Feuding in Congress over Nagam’s entry into party

The internecine differences in the Congress party came to the fore today after BJP leader Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy joining the Congress on Wednesday in the presence of AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi.

Senior Congress leader and MLC Damodar Reddy, who has been opposing Nagam’s entry into the party since the beginning, lashed out at TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy today. Alleging that Uttam Kumar Reddy erred with regard to Nagam’s entry issue, Damodar Reddy said the party would suffer losses with the intra-party differences among the party leaders.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Damodar Reddy alleged that the party was being affected with the unilateral decisions taken by the PCC. He alleged that both S Jaipal Reddy and G Chinna Reddy were trying to weaken the strong leaders in Nagarkurnool with their questionable acts.

“Nagam joined the Congress by misleading AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi”, he claimed. Damodar Reddy also faulted State party in-charge RC Kuntia’s remarks. He said while Nagam was spreading rumours that he got an assurance from the party high command that he would be given ticket, the TPCC chief and Kuntia flatly denied to have given an assurance to Nagam on ticket. Demanding that the PCC and Kuntia clarify on ticket to Nagam, Damodar Reddy said he was working for the sake of party for the last 20 years and also working against Nagam. He made it clear that he would not extend cooperation if the party gave ticket to Nagam. (NSS)
