Fiat bring back Punto Pure to India

New Delhi : Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India on Thursday launched Punto Pure at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

Punto Pure will be available in two variants, with prices starting at Rs. 4.49 lakh for the petrol and Rs. 5.59 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel version.

The Punto Pure is a five-door hatchback with a 1.3 L Advanced Multi Jet engine producing 76 PS of power ad 1.2 L FIRE petrol engine producing 68 PS of power.

Fiat had launched the Abarth version of the Punto in late 2015.

Speaking on the occasion, Kevin Flynn, president and managing director, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India, said “The success story of the Grande Punto has been impeccable. It received a warm welcome during its launch. The Italian design dynamics and flair was loved and admired by many. Today, we at FCA India are extremely thrilled to present the Punto Pure- the Italian masterpiece that promises the same agility and ride quality at an affordable price and low cost of ownership.”

When Kevin was asked about the Linea will be getting an Abarth upgrade he confirmed that there was no such plan right now.

He refused to give sales numbers of the Abarth Punto but mentioned that, “Those cars are strategic and it is a message to help us sales of our range. I am happy for the sales volume to go where they go.”

He admitted that the sub five lakh and the sub four-metre segment is the biggest sales driver but Fiat is yet to decide if it is going to manufacture a car which will meet these norms. Working on dealerships and increasing the number of dealers in India is one of the important aspects of the Fiat plans in India right now. (ANI)
