File FIR against PDP leaders for taking Kashmiris back: Uttarakhand minister

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand tourism minister Satpal Maharaj on Wednesday demanded an FIR against Rajya Sabha MP from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Fayaz Ahmed Mir for taking Kashmiris students back to the Valley.

Amid concerns of safety of students from Jammu and Kashmir, in the wake of Pulwama attack, Mohammad Fayaz on Tuesday met with Kashmiri students in Dehradun and arranged buses to carry around 100 students back to Kashmir.

Maharaj, as per Indian Express, said, “The PDP leaders are taking Kashmiri students from here (Dehradun). This is not right because the PDP leaders are not the parents of the students. The police must take action. An FIR must be registered against them (PDP leaders).”

PDP’s Aijaz Ahmad Mir said, “… many of them were scared and wanted to leave, so we just helped them… instead of seeking a case against PDP leaders, the minister should have met and reassured Kashmiri students.”

The security concerns for Kashmiri students have been raised after around 40 CRPF personnel were killed in Awantipora in an attack orchestrated by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

The convoy of 78 buses, in which around 2500 CRPF personnel were travelling from Jammu to Srinagar, came under attack around 3.15 pm at Ladhu Modi Lethpora on February 14.
