Finish Tupakulagudem works in 10 days: Harish

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials concerned to speed up the works of Tupakulagudem project and copper dam works in 10 days.

The minister held a review meeting at Jala Soudha here and reviewed on Sriram Sagar project-II and Tupakulagudem project works here. Directing the officials to work in three shifts, the minister asked them to shift waters from Tupakulagudem barrage to Devadula project in January and complete the works of the SRSP-II by March. “Work agencies should focus on the related works of sheet files and work on a war-footing for three shifts”, he directed.

“Tupakulagudem will help SRSP to stabilize six lakh acres under Devadula project. It will irrigate four lakh acres in the drought-hit old districts like Nalgonda, Khammam and Warangal, the minister said. Works worth Rs 1,321 crore being continued under SRSP-II project and related works should be completed by March, 2018, Harish directed. He also alleged that the previous Congress government had neglected the SRSP from 2004 to 2014. The TRS Government has irrigated 2.25 lakh acres and now the target is to irrigate another 1.75 lakh acres totaling four lakh acres under the project, he added.
