Ford India which had launched the updated EcoSport back in November 2017 with a facelift, has issued a recall for 7,249 units of its popular SUV, in India. Owners of the affected cars will be notified or can get in touch with a local dealer for the update.

The carmaker says that this is a voluntarily inspecting to check and update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software. According to the communication we received from Ford India, the affected Ford EcoSport petrol vehicles pose a remote chance of sudden deceleration or battery drainage.

This came after many owners have posted a video on YouTube detailing the issue of starting and acceleration dropping.

Even in July 2018, Ford had announced that it will be voluntarily inspecting 4,379 EcoSport vehicles, made at the company’s Chennai plant between May 2017 and June 2017, for weld integrity of the front lower control arm.

Ford’s EcoSport continues to be best-selling Ford in India with average sales of 4,000 units a month.
